Chakra Series Pt. 2 | Sacral Chakra and Relationships

The Sacral Chakra, also known as Svadhisthana meaning "ones own abode," or "one's dwelling." It is orange in color--the color of success, which also relates to self-respect. It gives us the ability to give ourselves the freedom to be ourselves, especially in expanding our interests or creative abilities. It also is responsible for strengthening our overall outlook and motivation toward our lives in general.

Where is my Sacral Chakra, what does it associate?

Our second primary chakra is located at our lower abdomen and inner pelvis. Other locations described in different systems, expand its location to the genital area, especially at the level of ovaries for women and the testicles for men. It is associated with the lymphatic system.

In the behavioral aspect Svadhisthana relates to our emotions and relationships. Our sexual expressions and pleasure, and creativity. Opening your sacral chakra allows you to “feel” the world around and in us. As such, it’s an important chakra at the foundation of our feeling of well-being.

How can I tell if my Root Chakra is out of balance?

  • Dependency, on other people or a substance that grants you easy access to pleasure.

  • Your emotions taking over you.

  • A sense of numbing or detachment, not knowing what to say or how to feel-anxiety.

  • A disconnect or lack of desire and feeling sexually unsatisfied.

  • Feeling stuck-having an emotional blockage.

What is your body telling you about this blockage?

  • back pain

  • urinary and kidney infections

  • ovarian cysts

  • abnormal menstruation

  • problems with fertility

Some of our classes that would be great for the second chakra would be:

Here are some poses great for awakening your sacral imbalance:

  • Wide-Angle Seated Forward Bend (Upavistha Konasana) — As this pose stimulates the abdominal organs it also strengthens the spine and opens the second chakra.

  • One-Legged King Pigeon (Eka Pada Rajakapotasana) — This variation of the pigeon asana stimulates the abdominal organs while stretching the chest, shoulders, and abdomen to allow for the healthy flow of energy through the second chakra.

  • Revolved Triangle (Parivrtta Trikonasana) — A variation of triangle, this asana stimulates the abdominal organs to activate the sacral chakra while stretching the spine, hips, and legs.

  • Chair (Utkatasana) — Adopting this standing pose, which strengthens the abdomen and stimulates abdominal organ function, allows for the opening and activation of the second chakra.

Adopt some essential oils, we carry doTERRA in our shop!

Introducing essential oils associated with the sacral chakra, such as Ylang-Ylang or Sandalwood, to your home or personal space can offer a boost to sacral chakra healing.

Buy some crystals, they are everything over here!

Regularly meditating on the sacral chakra and/or the color orange can also help clear negativity and restore balance to the energy center. If you feel drawn to the use of crystals to restore balance, consider introducing orange carnelian, citrine, or amber.
